Sjøkanten Park is ready for future homeowners
A transformation project where old industry is swapped with urbanity and nature
What used to be an industrial area in Stavanger is now transformed into a lively urban area filled with residents and visitors. The project is part of the vision of an urban seafront in Stavanger and making this more accessible for the people who lives here and visitors.
Our site is located on what used to be Norwegian Steel’s old production location. Together with the landscape architects from SLA’s we have made a little sanctuary of a resident project which unites and balance the urban qualities with nature. The project includes a park that stretches all the way from the St. Johannes church to the water – a residential project where you get the best of both world – nature and urbanity.
The landscape plan and design were steadily handled by SLA, who opted for an organic vegetation to match the local climate. The immediate closeness to the water provides a tranquility with the lulling sea breeze and the freshness of salt water. The lucky residents will in addition have access to shared facilities such as indoor kayak parking, crafting space and a bike maintenance station. These are rare qualities in residential projects which we are very proud of.
The architecture is inspired by the historic warehouse buildings that used to be here and the material palette is an homage to the harbor industry. We have worked on this project since 2016 when we started the zoning and regulation work with Profier (today Gjelsten Bolig). It is always special to see a project go from the drawing board to something physical with so many good qualities being intact. Visit Sjøkanten Park to see which apartments are for sale.
